Reed diffuser for the Carpenters Guild
TOP NOTES: pine needles, cloves
MIDDLE NOTES: fir balsam, artesia
BASE NOTES: cedar wood, birch, oak moss
Upon entering the workshop, pieces of wood are scattered on the floor. The smell of resin merges with the smell of pine needles and spruce. A lit fireplace emits a balsamic and slightly smoky smell. It's all about the smell of home Arte dei Legnaioli for the Guild of Carpenters.
Members of the Arte dei Legnaioli (carpenters) were engaged in building structures and furnishing rooms. The so-called Cassettas (wooden tablecloth makers) were highly skilled craftsmen, especially in the production of custom-made and refined wooden chests. The wood was imported from the Casentino or Mugello valleys (both in the vicinity of Florence). Walnut, chestnut, beech and cherry wood were mostly used.
