Arte dei Medici e Speziali (1349): The old doctors (medici) practised medicine and surgery, prepared the medicines to administer to patients and were also profound philosophy scholars. The pharmacists (speziali) on the other hand, obtained and sold the herbs, drugs and spices needed to prepare medicines. They also traded in perfumes and essences, as well as painters’ colours. The guild’s patroness was the Madonna.

Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561is a family-owned italian niche perfumery and cosmetics brand founded in the middle ages in Florence.
As the brand name suggests, the company goes back to 1561 when it started as a medieval pharmacy. Later on, Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561 developed into a modern pharmacy and finally became a niche perfumery and cosmetics brand.

Family traditions

Since 1970 the company belongs to Azzerlini family. The father and the daughter work with commerce and marketing, and the son helps the mother to take care of the chemical and the technical part of the business.
